Remotely access your music and video collection
November 10th, 2008 | by TK |With Winamp Remote you can view your MP3 and/or Video collection from any computer through a standard web browser. Given your upload speed is appropriate you can stream anything from your music collection, which includes Video clips.
You’ll need ports 80 and 554 forwarded on your modem/router for their DirectStream functionality.

Too bad my ISP doesn’t offer good upload speeds.
Is this safe anyway? Can’t everyone access your music?

@EverybodyGeek - When I update this post some more (it’s terrible) I’ll be explaining that it requires a login and password to access. Even then only authorized users will be able to view the media files in the designated folders.

I think I use the remote feature in Winamp long ago when it recently was published, and it was awesome. then I bought an ipod and switched to itunes and never used winamp again.
I love Winamp, I was kind of pissed off when it was sold to AOL, because I’m a open source lover, but it has kept up really good… I’ll probably drop itunes and go back to winamp..
